Koakumas Vest

Is ready n_n

I bought a vest from H&M an cutted two slits so the Wings would fin nicelly under them :3
Also I sewed some lace so it would look neater :D
And I added some extra buttons, so it would look nice...

I thought it would look a bit stupid, if I fastened the wings over the vest..

Koakuma's Skirt

So, I finished making her skirt.
It was quite a challenge, because I made the sewing patterns right out of my head, with the limits of the fabric I had... I chose flax because it was pleasent feeling in my hands.. And also the fabric is quite heavy, so the skirt's hem will settle down nicely :3
I also added some tulle under the hem so it would rise the hem a bit up :3
It was hell to sew xD

The corset part of the skirt was quite a challenge too, because I had to measure some perts to the sewing pattern while waring the half made skirt and installing some needles to hold it on it's place! This time I managed not to sting myself with the pins xD

The sail rings to the corset part were quite annoying to aplly, bacause the fabric fas so stiff  at the border.. I also accidentally firts applyed the first sail ring wrong side up, so I decidet to put every other wrong side up and every other the right side up...
The hem is quite triangular due to the lack of real sewing patterns...
And looking a bit hefty in that skirt I am xD

So the ears are ready n_n
Only that the're quite floppy xD

And the skeleton insode the ear :3 and how it's attached to my ear xD
The're so gonna kill me after the day 8D

Wings part 2 - The Making of

So, we have the materials so lets get started ;D

Some pics from the prosess so far..

I made some research with Google about the wings and how their bone structure would look like... 

And then drew 1:1 "blueprints" of them on paper (this is the third version).

            The threaded rod is one meter long (3,28
             foot).

I actually ended up needing only the smaller bolts because the joint hinge I was planning to make, did't actually work quite I expected.. Plus they came more heavier than I thought...

So the new "skeleton" looks like this:

I drew the shape of the wing to the fabric with tailors chalk
Sorry for not having any process images between these two!
But I sew some lanes with the same fabric I used in the wings, then thread the "finger bones" into each one of the gauntlets. Then I sew the upper part and stuffed the "muscles" into it so it would look a bit more realistic. And then I hand sew the rubber band so I could wear them (like a backpack or so).

Threading the fabric onto the wires was quite a challence.. Especially because I had to thread every wire into the gauntlets at the same time!
Also I had to clip quite much of extra fabric off...

The Wings, part 1 - Materials

Well, lets see what we are cooking with xD
The materials :

The hardware is from Biltema and the fabric and rubber band is from Eurokangas (Eurofabrick?)..
The leftover waterpipe is from my fathers project some years ago :3

Prices:

So, the combined price for the wings is 34.1€ ( 43.43$)
There will be lefovers, so the price is gonna be actually lower ;D

Red Necktie

Is finnished!

So the first part of Koakuma is ready 8D
What do you think?

I made the necktie about 40 cm (15 inches) shorter than the regular mens necktie :3
The fabric is ordinary red cotton..
It costed me 1 euro (1.27 dollars) ;D

I'm working on her wings next..
Lets hope they'll turn out nice! I have a habbit to do things othe hard way...
Plus I want to make them as realistic as possible!

Like the description under the blogs name says, I'm justa greenhorn getting to know the World of cosplay :D
Unlike in the other blog of mine, Nuudelsoppa, I'll be writing this blog in English, for the challenge..
And keeping up the skills ;D

The main two character I'm about to coslay for the Finncon-Animecon 2011 are Koakuma and Hong Meiling (China) from the same Game, Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, Project Touhou.

* Wings (as ears and tied to the back)
* White dress shirt, with puff shoulders and straps under them
* Black skirt, under knees
* Black vest (with cuts on the back to fit the wings)
* Red eyes
* Red wig
* Red necktie
* Heeled shoes (like these from Dinsko)
* Black, overknee socks
* Leather moon bag



Hong Meiling
* White, short sleeved dress shirt
* Green vest with gold ribbons
* Green skirt, with slit from hem up to waist, gold lining with black markings
* Green hat, with golden star, chinese sign Dragon
* Kung Fu shoes
* White, saggy pants / PANTALOONS
* Red wig with two braids with black ribbons
* Large black ribbon tied to back under the vest
* Black ribbon around the neck
